It’s finally time; Canon has officially indicated that the EOS R1, the flagship, is really coming and in development.
Ever since the introduction of the EOS R camera line, the EOS R1 has been talked about, but it has always remained a rumor. Now it is official that the EOS R1 will be released, but when is not yet clear. The successor to the EOS 1D X Mark III SLR camera should therefore be even more impressive than the current flagship; the Canon EOS R3.
Go Tokura explains
Go Tokura, the General Manager of Canon’s Imaging Division, told the story in an interview with Photo Trend. According to Go, it is only logical that the EOS R1 comes. The EOS R3 is rightly the current flagship when you consider the technological strides the camera has made compared to the EOS 1D series and the other EOS R models. However, the EOS R3 has the number three for a reason; because there is still a number 1 to come, says Tokura.
No Canon EOS R1 specifications yet
In the past, we thought we’d spotted Canon EOS R1 spec leaks, but these are now out of date and we expect Canon to have updated all of them. We will, of course, let you know as soon as more details about the EOS R1 become available.
