Sony has just announced the Sony A6700. An APS-C system camera with AI processing unit and great autofocus. It is a hybrid camera for both photographers and filmmakers, with a 26 megapixel APS-C BSI sensor.
The APS-C hybrid system camera has finally been announced and brings the latest technology with it. The A6700 dethrones the current flagship, the Sony A6600.

General characteristics
The Sony A6700 retains the compact design and has an electronic viewfinder and a vari-angle screen. The previous screens on the A6xxx series were all tilt-only flip-outs, so we can speak of a necessary upgrade.
Sensor and image processor
The camera contains a 26 megapixel APS-C sensor with Back Side Illuminated design. This BSI design works more efficiently with light, and that naturally ensures better images. The Bionz XR sensor is AI-based, and this helps to recognize and track objects. The ISO value can be set from 100 to 32000 and can be expanded from 80 to 102400. All images are stabilized thanks to the internal 5-axis image stabilization unit.

This all-round system camera is suitable for capturing fast-moving subjects, such as birds and insects because you take up to 11 photos per second, with active AE/AF tracking. In addition, the camera now recognizes many more objects and subjects.
Autofocus on the Sony A6700
The Sony A6700 works with Real Time AF that can track and track objects at all times, thanks to the AI processing unit. This function works for both photography and videography. Sony claims that the autofocus works when the subject is momentarily out of frame, turned around or backlit. The camera uses 759 phase detection points with 93% coverage of the image.
New subjects are recognized
In addition to the well-known forms of recognition such as the faces and eyes of people and animals, trains, planes and insects are now also recognized. This makes the A6700 an ideal travel, wildlife, and sports camera.
Video capabilities on the Sony A6700
The fact that the Sony A6700 is a true hybrid camera can be seen from the many options. This way you can film in a maximum resolution of 4K 60fps, which is extracted from 6K oversampled material. Images can be recorded in 4:2:2 10-bit format, which provides extra color information and depth. In 4K it is also possible to make 120fps slow motions, while in Full HD you can even make images of 240fps. That’s 10x slow motion!
Auto-framing for video
While shooting a static shot, it is possible to have the camera make a crop that follows a moving person. This ‘AI-based Auto Framing for Movies’ follows the person and turns a static image into a moving image. The images are taken from 4K material. When is this useful? For example, when you are a vlogger who does everything alone. The auto-framing is a good way to transform a static image into a more interesting secondary image.
